(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 22)—The McKendree College hockey team lost its fifth consecutive contest in a 6-3 decision Saturday on the road against the University of Kansas.
McKendree falls to 5-9-0 on the year and will be on the road again Friday and Saturday to face Eastern Illinois University.
Sophomore center Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelpia, Pa.) had a goal and an assist in Saturday’s loss to lead the Bearcats. His goal with 3:49 remaining in the first period brought McKendree within 2-1. After Kansas increased its margin to 4-1 late in the second period, sophomore center/wing Nick Dreyer (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill.) scored an unassisted goal with 3:03 left in the stanza to bring McKendree back within two goals.
Freshman center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill.) capped the scoring for the Bearcats with an even-strength tally 92 seconds before the end of the second period.
Freshman Mike Stier (Belleville, Illinois/) (Belleville, Ill.) made 30 saves in goal for McKendree. Each team had 36 shots on goal in the contest.
